About The Little Building Co

My name is Suellen and I'm so glad you're here.  The Little Building Co. began organically in the Fall of 2024, after picking up a piece of furniture off the side of the road in the Hamptons.  I loaded it into the back of my Subaru, and took it home to my garage to try to rescue it and bring it back to life.  The Empire Style dresser on the HOME page is that exact piece!

I am now sourcing more deliberately, but will never turn down something beautiful  on the side of the road.  My aesthetic has arrived from growing up in both the USA and  England.  I have a strong love for antique pieces.  They are so well made and I love the variations in the solid woods.  I love early American and colonial styles, but also have a fondness for the revival of French provincial looks.

I have a full-time job selling wine, which I love, but this fills my creative itch.  I studied Art History in college, so I feel this is the perfect nod to my love of stories, history and beautiful things.  My three girls also keep me very busy, and I'm married to an ex-punk rocker, so my house is always filled with music, and lots of strong female energy!  Refinishing furniture has become a new love language for me, and one I can't wait to share with you.

I begin all of my projects with a deep dive into the materials I'm working with, the history of the furniture, and how best to showcase the artisanship.  Sometimes this involves painting, but often it's stripping the wood down to it's natural state and carefully repairing and reconstructing if needed.

I sell pieces that I have personally sourced, but I also do custom refinishing.
